Afterword

ThimphuTech was the first technology blog in Bhutan. We started writing it in 2009, just as broadband and mobile internet started to take off. (Although internet in Bhutan was launched in 1999, it was either super-slow or super-expensive, and was only used by a selected few).

In the blog, we wrote about technology and food, but also about plenty of other stuff. The blog became popular and influential in Bhutan. A companion bi-weekly column -- Ask Boaz -- was published for many years in the Kuensel, Bhutan's national newspaper. (The complete Kuensel columns are available as an ebook, Blogging with Dragons).

We stopped updating the blog when we left Bhutan in 2014, but the information within the posts can still prove useful, and thus we decided to keep it online.

We thank all our readers.

Boaz & Galit.

DrukNet Servers Still Under Attack

The relentless online attack on Bhutanese websites has not subsided. A shared DrukNet server with the IP address of 202.144.128.218 was recently under attack. I used a service called sameip.org to check which websites are hosted on this server (see below). The service returned a list of 20 websites, including BOB, T-Bank, DPT, Druk Holdings and Investments (DHI), Bhutan Film FestivalRoyal Thimphu College, and Bhutan Media Foundation

I took a few screen captures of some of the websites that were hacked.

  1. Yes I agree.
Infact all the block of Druknet's IPs are blacklisted. If you just google the list of ips starting from 202.144.141.xxx it will give you all the list.

Even in my organization we have druknet leased line and our mail server is hosted using druknet's public ip and most of the time,it generates lots of spams and when I checked it was blacklisted by spamhaus.org.
No matter how strong security system we have internally and if there is no security system from ISP side we will always face these sorts of security issues.
I even have raised this issue in online forum but nobody took any action till now.
Please druknet do someting now.It is high time you wake up from your deep sleep.Forget about IPv6 and all.Let somebody do it and test it.Concentrate on your infrastructure and security system.I think you guys don't have even security policies in your organization. Please do something...
